May 2010 Section Meeting on Hydraulic Fracturing
Realizing Full Potential of Hydraulic Fracturing--Damage Mechanisms and Mitigation
by SPE Distinguished Lecturer, Joseph Ayoub, Schlumberger
Hydraulic fracturing has been successfully applied for decades to improve the economics of oil and gas production. Significant improvements in modeling, materials, delivery equipment, and monitoring have taken place, and the technology footprint has gone beyond tight or unconventional gas into higher permeability reservoirs such as the frac and pack applications.
In this lecture, the different damage mechanisms are reviewed and their impact quantified using a customized 3D multiphase reservoir simulator.
For the complete overview of the talk and Mr. Ayoub's biography, visit: (http://www.spe.org/events/dl/Ayoub.php)
When: May 18, 2010 (Tuesday), 5:00pm - networking/registration, 6:00pm - dinner, 7:00pm - speaker/program
Where: Cefalo's Restaurant
Cost: $35.00 (in advance, pay online with PayPal), $40.00 at the door, $10.00 for students (pay at the door).

April 2010 Section Event--On the Road to State College, PA
Show your support for the next generation of SPE and petroleum engineers, then enjoy a round of golf the next day!
Everyone was invited to a FREE reception in State College, PA sponsored by Southwestern Energy.
Each year, our SPE Section presents scholarship awards, which go to a member of our student-affiliated SPE chapter
at Penn State University. In the past, one award was given annually.
But with growth in our region, we are able to award 6 scholarhips this year and for the next 3 years (for more info, see Scholarships.)
Penn State SPE has a reception planned in conjunction with its annual golf outing (for more info, see below).
